Solomon Walusimbi and his club Maroons are the new boys in the Uganda Premier League.

The Prisoners secured their ticket back to top flight on Tuesday thanks to their 3-1 victory over Kyambogo.

Goals from Patrick Kaddu, Pius Obuya and an own goal from Cedric Otti were all Asaph Mwebaze’s men needed to ease past Kyambogo as they sealed their return to the league.

Walusimbi, 19, has been influential in the Prisoners’ campaign, scoring 9 times on his debut season in the FUFA Big League.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” Walusimbi who joined the club early this season said. “I thank God for making this possible. It is a dream come true for me and I’m super excited because playing in the league was my dream.”

“We deserve to be in the premier league. We have shown we have the qualities to compete in the league and now we are going to work even hard to stay in the league.” he added.

The youngster began his debut campaign with a target of 12 goals. He is three goals away from achieving his objective, but with just one game left to the end of regular season plus the final, chances of attaining his desired tally keep diminishing.

Walusmbi is convinced though he will accomplish his mission.

“I haven’t given up on my goal. There are still two games to go. I know I will make it.”
