Despite finishing the latter stages of their away tie to Bugema with 10 men, Gulu University was in demolition mood on Sunday in the University Football League.

The visitors won 3-0 away at debutant institution Bugema University to attain their first victory outside their home periphery.

Patrick Opio and Ronald Abesa scored in the 28th and 44th minutes respectively as the visiting team led 2-0 by the mandatory half time mark.

Joseph Nyero’s 68th minute strike then wrapped up the business on the red letter day.

For executing a malicious foul on Bugema goalie Happy, Gulu’s Joel Majariti was sent to the ‘sin bin’ as the they granted the home side numerical advantage.

After the game, Gulu captain John Paul Acire was voted the man of the match for his exceptional display throughout the game.

The league takes a day break before Tuesday’s showdown at Nakawa when MUBS host another debutant side St Lawrence University.

Kampala University is the reigning champion.
