First half goals from Godfrey Wakaza and Sulaiman Kibirige were enough to hand The Saints a vital 2-0 victory over Soana on Tuesday at Bombo Barracks Playground.
Wakaza’s penalty gave The Saints who are now three points away from safety the lead in the 15th minute, before Kibirige doubling the lead seventh minutes later.
It was the side’s first win in Bombo since their return to the ground, and the result means Moses Basena and his charges need just one win from the remaining two games to maintain their status in the Uganda Premier League.
It was a game that saw Soana’s unused substitute Geoffrey Simbwa and head coach Alex Isabirye shown their matching orders.
The win lifted The Saints a place up to ninth, dislodging Bright Stars who were out of action.
