An entertaining Uganda Premier League match between JMC Hippos and Police at Kakindu was dramatically aborted in the 65th minute following to a controversial penalty the hosts.

Charles Ssemanda, formerly at KCCA and The Saints put the hosts in a deserved lead after 20 minutes when he got at the end of Moses Batali pass to give already relegated side a 1-0 cushion at half time.

In the second half, either side pressed for goal but failed to get a breakthrough until the 65th minute when the Cops leading goal scorer in the campaign, Hood Kaweesa -fell to the ground after a challenge with JMC defender, Constantine Nalumoso.

Centre referee Ali Kaddu adjudged a foul on the striker, awarding a penalty which the home players protested.

They were later joined on the pitch by the fans and the game stopped for some minutes as fans continued to protest.

Anti-riot police at the venue later left with a few officers staying but later, nearly after half hour gone without action, reinforcement arrived.

The match officials agreed not to continue with the game with time and FUFA’s verdict on the match is eagerly awaited.

All indicators show that relegation threatened Police FC maybe awarded all match points by forfeiture which implies they might survive relegation with a game to play.
