Kenya Premier League giants AFC Leopards on Friday successfully completed the signing of Burundian striker Alexis Kitenge on a two-year deal.

Kitenge has been featuring for Burundi Ligue A club, Athletico Olympic until his departure.

The club Organizing Secretary Timothy Lilumbi affirmed the development, also enlighting on the process of capturing Uganda Cranes and Vipers midfielder Kezironi Kizito.

Lilumbi, as quoted by Nation media noted that Kitenge’s arrival is a timely endeavor as far as their title aspirations are concerned.

He (Kitenge) is a young striker. He was the top scorer in the just ended Burundian league and has been through his club’s academy meaning he has the know-how to give us what we want.

We needed a lethal striker and in Kitenge we are sorted.

Kitenge will fight for a slot on the team alongside Ghanaian Gilbert Fiamenyo and Paul Mungai Kiongera who so far scored three goals apiece.

He will however wait for the mid-season transfer window to open on June 1, to have their International Transfer Certificates (ITC) processed.

On Kizito, Lilumbi said the process is in advanced stages since they discussed with the player on Friday evening.

With Kizito, he is also young, at just 19, he will be key to our ambitions in the remaining league matches.

Until the formal discussions with Leopards, Kizito had opened his soul and mind to the reigning champions Tusker.
