When the Uganda Cranes enter residential camp at Sky Hotel in Ntinda on Tuesday morning, two players who were expected to be part of the provisional team shall be notably missing.

Vipers’ defender Halid Lwaliwa and Austrian based striker Edirisa Lubega (who plays at second division side Floridsdorfer are both nursing painful knees after sustaining injuries on Sunday.

Lwaliwa was injured during the Uganda Cranes’ regional tour match against Kitara select at the Buhinga playground in Fort Portal as Lubega twisted his ankle 3-1 home win to Kapfenberger SV.

Consequentially, the duo have been ruled out of the planned residential camp set to start on Tuesday.

Uganda is preparing for three crucial matches in early June against Ethiopia and Senegal (international friendlies) and the AFCON 2019 qualifier with Cape Verde.

Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic has expressed grief about the two players’ state.

“It is such a big pity for the two players. We wish them a quick steady fast road to recovery,” Micho disclosed.

Meanwhile, Onduparaka striker Muhammed Shaban who was rested from the Kitara Region tour match due to sight problems has fully recovered and will be part of the residential training.

“Shaban will report to camp on Tuesday and we look forward to work with him,” Micho said of the reigning FUFA footballer of the year.

The team is expected to depart the country for Addis Ababa on Thursday night.
