At least 80 golfers will tee off during the 3rd edition of the Madaraka Day golf tournament on Saturday at the Kigali Golf Club course in Nyarutarama.

The annual event is organised by Kenyan golfers living and working in Rwanda to commemorate the day Kenya attained internal self-rule in 1963, which falls on June 1.

According to the Kigali Golf Club vice-captain John Thairu, the tournament is expected to attract between 80-100 golfers from regional countries.

As quoted by New Times, Thairu noted;

Everything is in place for the smooth running of the event and we expect Kenya’s Ambassador to Rwanda, John Mwengemi, to grace the event

The golfers will compete in three categories; men, ladies and seniors.

The mode of play will be stroke play.

The men will also be played in three different categories namely; handicap 0-9, 10-18 and 19-28.

The first edition was held in 2015.
