Salim’s Al Merriekh suffers another defeat | CAF CL

Al Merriekh’s chance of progressing to the quarter finals of the 2017 Total CAF Champions League suffered another dent thanks to a 1-0 away loss to Mozambique’s Ferroviaro Beira.

Antonio Dayo scored the winning goal in the 67^th minute past Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Jamal Salim Magoola who was in goal for the Sudan side.

The Sudan giants ended the fixture with a man less after an 89^th minute red card to Ala Eldin Yousif for a second bookable offence.

The loss, the team’s second in succession leaves them at the base of Group A with just one point earned against rivals Al Hilal Omdurman on day one.

The group is led by Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel (7 points) who drew 1-1 at home against Al Hilal Omdurman.

Al Merriekh’s next game is a must win at home against the Mozambique opponents on June 20 whilst Al Hilal host Etoile Du Sahel the following day in Sudan.
