Al Merriekh’s chance of progressing to the quarter finals of the 2017 Total CAF Champions League suffered another dent thanks to a 1-0 away loss to Mozambique’s Ferroviaro Beira.

Antonio Dayo scored the winning goal in the 67th minute past Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Jamal Salim Magoola who was in goal for the Sudan side.

The Sudan giants ended the fixture with a man less after an 89th minute red card to Ala Eldin Yousif for a second bookable offence.

The loss, the team’s second in succession leaves them at the base of Group A with just one point earned against rivals Al Hilal Omdurman on day one.

The group is led by Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel (7 points) who drew 1-1 at home against Al Hilal Omdurman.

Al Merriekh’s next game is a must win at home against the Mozambique opponents on June 20 whilst Al Hilal host Etoile Du Sahel the following day in Sudan.
