The 2017 Bika Bya Baganda football tournament will officially be opened by the King of Buganda, His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II early next month.

Former winners Mbogo and Engeye will play in the opening match on Saturday, 8th July 2017.

The opening fixture as well as the completed schedule of games was released at Bulange in Mengo, Kampala on Wednesday.

Winners in 1958, 1991, 1992 and lately 2012, Engeye clan will be seeking for 5th title.

Mbogo on the other hand have won two times in history. They won the first ever championship held in 1950 before repeating the feat 50 years later.

There are 43 teams out of the expected 54 clans that have confirmed for this year’s championship which is played on a knock out basis.

The defending champions of this tournament only played by the Baganda tribes are Nte Clan.
