2017 Seniors Golf Championship:
- Saturday, 10th June – Toro Golf Club,Fort Portal
At least 90 golfers are expected to grace the undulating 9 hole Toro Golf Course this Saturday for the first ever Senior Golf Championship at the Fort Portal based club.
Club captain, Andrew Biryabareema expects about 40 senior golfers to take part the day long event.
“This is the first seniors golf tournament at an upcountry golf course. We expect our elders to turn up in large numbers,” Biryabareema stated.
Apuuli Basaliza, 84, born and bred from Toro is arguably the oldest golfer in Uganda.
Basaliza is one of those duly confirmed to take part the championship that will be played in the different age categories; 55-60, 61-65, 66-70 and the 71+ class.
Another home based senior, Atwooki Mujogya will be joined by the tried and experienced crop of Pride Kerale, Sam Zaramba, Mark Ntege, Charles Kagombe and George Egadu among others.
Senior golfers from Kasese, Entebbe, Kampala, Jinja, Lugazi, Masindi, Arua and the home club will grace the event where the excelling players will be rewarded with trophies and other prizes.
