
Kigali, Rwanda will be host to 15 chess players from Uganda starting Thursday evening.
The players from the Pearl of Africa are off to Rwanda for the Genocide Memorial Chess Tournament that starts on Friday 9th at Classic Hotel, Kigali
The Rwandan chess fraternity will be treated to some thrilling action as top East African players including Fide Master Patrick Kawuma, Harold Wanyama and Haruna Nsubuga lead the ranking at the annual event.
Kawuma who enters the event as the highly rated player sets off at 8pm alongside John Vianney Mukalazi, the Director at Chess Life Academy. Wanyama expects to hit the road at midnight.
Allan Mathias Ssonko, Simon Gonza, Rajab Kamoga, Thomas Katairo, Paul Kafuko, Emmanuel Mukose, Joshua Katumba Joseph Kaamu, Ivy Kayesu, Ezekiel Masiko, Ivan Mugisha are the other Ugandans taking part in the competition.
Ssonko, Kaamu and Kamoga are locals in Kigali already.
