Soroti based Olila High School qualified for the final of the FUFA Women Cup after a tense but exciting 2-1 post match penalty victory over UCU Lady Cardinals at the UCU Sports Stadium in Mukono.
Normal time of the match had ended in a 2-2 draw before the match was decided via a shootout.
Sharon Achieng and Cissy Nantongo (penalty) scored for Olila High as they led 2-0 at some stage but Mercy Nabulobi and Esther Kadoni netted for the home side to force the game into extra time.
Olila’s Vanessa Karungi saved three penalties as UCU missed 4 of the 5 attempts.
Teddy Najjuma, Mercy Nabulobi, Banura Pheobe and Nakigozi Elizabeth missed UCU’s kicks from the penalty spot as Adams Kemisa Adams was successful.
Reigning FUFA Women Elite MVP Fazila Ikwaput and Norah Alupo scored for Olila but Sharon Achieng and Cissy Nantongo missed.
The Inaugural FUFA Women Cup final 2016/17 will be played on 18th June, 2017 at the Madibira playground in Busia.
Olila High School will take on Gafford Ladies in the final.
Gafford overcame Mutesa I Royal University in the earlier semifinal played on Thursday at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
