If all goes according to plan, America non league club, F.C Minneapolis will travel to Kampala for a high profile friendly with the Uganda national football team, The Cranes.

The match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 20th March 2018 at the Nelson Mandela National stadium, Namboole in Kampala.

Minnesota community and Minneapolis websites confirmed the development on Sunday.

“FC Minneapolis hopes that the trip next spring will allow the Lions to build a fanbase abroad, as well as establish a pipeline for players between Uganda and the United States,” the Minnesota community website confirmed.

The club is home to a Ugandan winger, Ian Ssendi. Ssendi was recently elevated to player manager status and he is believed pushed for the friendly.

In an e-mail communique, Ssendi lauded the offer presented by FUFA;

I thank the Federation of Uganda Football Associations and the Uganda Cranes Technical team for agreeing to our request.

I [also] thank the Uganda National Football Team Head Coach Milutin Sredojević who has always advised me here and there on what to do how and when.

The City Lions expect to touch down at Entebbe International Airport on March 13th before heading to their training camp where they will reside until gam eday before returning to the United States on Tuesday, March 20th.

FUFA is currently in contact with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) to meet FIFA regulations ahead of this warm up duel.
