Uganda Cranes midfielder Yassar Mugerwa is excited having won the 2016-17 Ethiopia Premier League title with St George Football Club.

Mugerwa and goalkeeper Robert Odongkara were part of the winning squad at St George as they claimed their 14th league title on Saturday.

The former Nkumba University, SC Victoria University, URA and Orlando Pirates player is happy to be part of the rich history at St George.

It is good winning with the team and keeping it’s top position and as well making history for Champions League qualification.

Mugerwa featured in 23 out of the total number of 30 league matches, a rate that personally leaves him contented.

His biggest hurdle as he acclimatized to the Addis Ababa life from Johannesburg was the high altitude conditions and its breathing effects.

It was a challenge due to the altitude but I got used in the second part of the league.

Although, his appearances in the CAF Champions League have been limited, he has vowed to up his game in training sessions and matches to convince the technical team.

St George is still in contention for a domestic double as they take on Defence in the Ethiopia Cup.

On Sunday, they play host to Dennis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns at the Addis Ababa national stadium.
