League champions KCCA and former winners Vipers SC have dominated nominations for the 2016-17 Uganda Premier League awards.

The UPL announced the full list of nominees for the awards slated on July 26 at the official launch at Mandela National stadium, Namboole on Friday.

The league and Cup winners KCCA got nine (9) nominations besides what they already won by claiming the league title and Geoffrey Sserunkuma winning the league’s golden boot with 21 goals.

Vipers, two-time champions have received five nominations and the committee has confirmed they will take place at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala.

The Most Valuable Player will walk away with a Subaru just like last year when defender cum midfielder, Joseph Ochaya scooped the award.

The Nominees

Champions – KCCA FC

MVP of the season: Geoffrey Sserunkuma (KCCA FC) Emmanuel Okwi (SC Villa) and Muhammad Shaban (Onduparaka)

Goalkeeper of the season: Isma Watenga (Vipers) Benjamin Ochan (KCCA FC) and Thomas Ikara (Kirinya Jinja SS)

Defender of the season: Halid Lwaliwa (Vipers), Habib Kavuma (KCCA FC) and Timothy Awany (KCCA FC)

Midfielder of the season: Saddam Juma (Express FC) Mutyaba Muzamir (KCCA FC) and Shafik Kagimu (URA FC)

Top Scorer: Geoffrey Sserunkuma (KCCA FC, 21goals)

Young Player of the year: Allan Okello (KCCA FC), Frank Tumwesigye (Vipers) and Thomas Ikara (Kirinya Jinja SS).
