Uganda Premier League side Soana Football Club has named Shafiq Bisaso head coach.

The confirmation was made after the CAF ‘A’ certified tactician signed the binding agreement and employment contract at Soana offices located along Lumumba Avenue.

“We are glad to announce Shafiq Bisaso as the head coach for Soana Football Club. He is a qualified coach, ready to steer the club to the right direction,” Soana boss, Smart Obed told Kawowo Sports.

Bisaso signed a two-year contract and thus becomes Soana’s fifth coach in two years. Charles Lukula Ayiekho, Sam Ssimbwa, George Lutalo Bbosa, Alex Isabirye have all been in charge at the club.

Bisaso will be deputized by Katono Mutono, a long serving coach at the club.

A proponent of free passing football where he accords players free expression rights, Bisaso has previously coached at Proline, KJT – Rweshama, Masavu, SC Villa as top sides.

It remains a mystery whether he will still retain his current position as Technical Director at Uganda Martyrs’ University, Nkozi which plays in the University Football League.

He has an enviable record of winning three Masaza Cup titles with Gomba (2) and Singo.

Official team training will begin at the start of August 2017.

The club plans a regional tour to the Western part of the country which will culminate into a match with a select team from the region at the Buhinga stadium.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
