Timothy Awany has earned an invite at Premier Soccer League (PSL), Ajax Cape Town for trials.
The KCCA and Uganda Cranes defender is expected to leave the country this week and if he does well, a deal will be in place for him to join the club.
Awany is arguably one of the best upcoming centre backs in the country and was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that played at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Gabon early this year.
The former Kibuli SS star becomes the third Ugandan to earn an invite to a PSL side in a couple of weeks after Onduparaka’s duo of Muhammad Shaban and Rashid Toha.
The two players had unsuccessful trials at former PSL champions, SuperSport United and are back at Onduparaka.
In case Awany makes it, he will join compatriot Denis Onyango at Mamelodi Sundowns in the same league.
There are ongoing reports that defender Murushid Jjuuko is on the verge of signing for Orlando Pirates, coached by former Uganda Cranes and SC Villa tactician, Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.
