Arsenal striker Alex Iwobi will not be part of Nigeria’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cameroon at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo state on the 1st September, 2017.

The development was confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the striker sustained a thigh muscle strain.

He will also miss the return leg, three days later on the 4th September in Yaounde.

Iwobi – a nephew to legendary Nigeria star Jay Jay Okocha – has been since replaced by CSKA Moscow striker Aaron Samuel, who was placed on standby last week.

Samuel had made the last of seven international appearances two years ago.

Meanwhile, reigning African champions Cameroon named their 23 man squad for the two games.
