Newly promoted Uganda Premier League side, Mbarara City Football Club has acquired a new partner.

The Kakyeeka based side in Mbarara signed a one-year deal with betting company, Top Bet worth Shs200M.

According to the company’s managing director, Bob Mugisha, the offer to help Mbarara City is one of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) cause towards supporting the sporting community, particularly football.

The development followed a proposal from the club chairperson Mwine Mpaka to management of the betting company which was successfully approved.

The company will be unveiled officially to the public this week.

Impeccable sources within the club indicate there is profound excitement at the club following the acquisition of the partner who will take the full branding rights of the club.

The company thus becomes the club’s main shirt sponsors.

Mpaka is excited about the deal sealed with hopes that new partners can come on board.

“We welcome other new partners who can come and we work together,” Mpaka disclosed to Kawowo Sports.

Mbarara City was promoted to the top flight from the second tier division, FUFA Big League at the apex of the 2016-17 season.

Like the rest of the 15 UPL clubs, the club has prepared well for the new upcoming season with administrative, playing and technical  departments reinforcements.

Pre-season Friendlies

The club has played a series of build up matches against Express (won 1-0) and drew with Vipers (1-1), Ntoda (2-2) as well as KCCA (0-0).

The club brought on board new players in goalkeeper Ali Kimera, exciting Swed Satugombo, hard working right back Zaidi Byekwaso, Francis Mustafa, Arishe Asuman Kihogo, Pistis Barenge and Fred Kalanzi.

They also renewed head coach Richard Makumbi’s one year employment contract for another year as well as his assistant Villai Bainomugisha.

Mbarara City will kick off the new season with an away duel against BUL at the Kakindu stadium on 12th September 2017.
