Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey ran the show with a hat-trick as Richmond Boakye grabbed a brace in the match.

Inspired by the 1-1 stalemate away in the reverse fixture, Congo started like a house on fire, putting their visitors on the back foot.

Thievy Bifouma had a scoring opportunity just after the 10-minute mark, but the guests’ goalkeeper Richard Ofori stopped his shot.

Ayyet pulled a goal back for Congo that was only a consolation.

Ghana thus attained their first victory of the campaign, moving to 5 points but remained third.

Egypt, who later beat Uganda 1-0 in Alexanderia, returned to the summit of group E with 9 points.

It was Uganda’s first loss in the qualification campaign as the East African country remains on 7 points.

Congo sit bottom with one point.
