Just as it is said in the Luganda dialect, “Etasiima, Ebula Agiwa..” directly translated as “That, that doesn’t appreciate will barely be given…” thankful former Uganda Cranes captain, now coach Ibrahim Sekagya truly embodies a character like no other.

Following his short stint with the national team, Sekagya has revealed how grateful he is for the chance Ugandan FA – FUFA, Ugandans and coaches Moses Basena, Matial Lule and Fred Kajoba accorded him to work with the side in Kampala and Alexandria.
Uganda managed a 1-0 win in Kampala courtesy of Emmanuel Okwi’s dancing feet under the watch of the four tacticians before losing by the same score in Alexandria at the hands of Mohammed Salah.
Sekagya says he gained a whole load of skills and added to his experience. He also took pleasure in sharing moments with the Uganda Cranes boys who “surprisingly” made him “proud” irrespective of the results.
“It was great pleasure ,entrusting in me for the technical boost & support to the boys,” he wrote on his social media.
“It was also a great opportunity to my developing skills and growing career; I can’t appreciate enough. All I can say is, to me it was some great experience & surprisingly the boys made us proud; regardless of the results.
“Now that I am back to my official duties,I hope to utilise the learnt skills. New Skills, great adventure, new experience & many more to learn ahead of me.”
Sekagya arrived in New York on Friday morning from Alexandria with a scheduled flight to Toronto for New York Red Bulls’ USL match against Toronto FC II.
New York Red Bulls II lead the Eastern conference with 69 points ahead of second placed Louisville City FC who have 60 points. Toronto are third from the bottom with 26 points in 30 matches so far played.
