Uganda Martyrs’ University (UMU) Nkozi held Uganda Premier League side Masavu to a goalless in a friendly match played at the Bugonga playground in Entebbe on Friday evening.

Abraham Ndugwa, Ibrahim Mpengere and Charles Nadia Wamala got close to scoring for the UPL outfit coached by Alex Gitta and former Uganda Cranes’ midfielder Joseph Mutyaba.

The Uganda Martyrs’ team had Douglas Owori hit the lower post in one of their near misses.

The university side had earlier in the day played to yet another goalless draw with Baita Select at the Nkumba Kataka playground.

Former SC Villa coach, and current tactician at Soana, Shafiq Bisaso was on the bench of UMU alongside his assistant Eric Kisuze.

This was Masavu’s 5th game in the pre-season following matches against URA (lost 4-0), Baita Select (won 3-0), Bright Stars (1-1) and Maroons (won 2-0).

The two sides used the friendly game for the same ambition of warming for their respective engagements.

Masavu entertains Police in the league on Tuesday at Bugonga  while Uganda Martyrs University is set to play in the Nile Special University Football League.
