In their last 2 encounters, Kenya has had Uganda’s number but on Sunday morning the Ladies Cricket Cranes defeated arch enemy Kenya by 6 wickets.
In a display of mean bowling by the Ugandan ladies, Kenya never got going as they were restricted to only 58 all out with all bowlers Consy Aweko (1/7 4 overs), Rita Musamali (2/11 4 overs), Stepahnie Nampiina (2/7 3.5 overs) and Lady of the Match Getrude Chandiru (2/13 4 overs) putting in a very good shift.
Saidat Kemigisha (25) was top scorer for Uganda in the chase and she got support from Gertrude Chandiru (11) as the lady cranes cruised to their 3rd win in the tournament.
Uganda chased the 58 for a loss of only 4 wickets putting them comfortably at the top of the table.
The win means Uganda qualify for the playoffs and they will take on tournament favorites Zimbabwe on Wednesday in high spirits.
The strong display by the ladies has been backed up by strong performances from senior players Gertrude Chandiru and Franklin Najjumba who have put in strong all round performances since the team touched Windhoek.
