Uganda Cranes long serving midfielder Tonny Mawejje is tipped to return for national team duty, Kawowo Sports has learnt.

Mawejje is among the players set to be named by head coach Moses Basena as the Uganda Cranes regroup for training ahead of Ghana Black Stars encounter at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on October 7 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Currently playing for Albanian outfit KF Tirana alongside Yunus Sentamu, the midfielder has been out of the national team frame for seven months since AFCON 2017 tournament in Gabon when he made a second half appearance against Mali.

Mawejje’s recent rich club form coupled with the vast experience is crucial for the team at a time Khalid Aucho is suspended.

Simba Sports Club defender Murushid Jjuuko is the other player suspended for the match after accumulating cautions from earlier matches.

Apart from the two suspended players, a bulk of the players who faced Egypt in the double header are expected to be maintained.

Training is expected to start a week from now with assurance of a regional trip ahead, an internal build up arrangement.
