Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Football Club entertains Express in a Uganda Premier league duel on Saturday.

The two clubs are yet to taste victory, alongside Bright Stars, BUL, Proline and Prisons run side, Maroons.

The agenda on the day will therefore be the desperate quest for maximum points.

UPDF lost their opening match away to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) 2-1 at Mandela National Stadium on match day one.

They made amends on the subsequent match day, holding the reigning league champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) F.C to a 1 all stalemate.

On the other hand, Express kicked off with a home barren draw against Kirinya – Jinja S.S before falling 1-0 away to Mbarara City at the Kakyeeka Stadium.

Moses Basena, the head coach at the army side as well as the Uganda national team, The Cranes plots for nothing but victory in the game to keep the pace with the leaderboard.

He will be expected to assemble a balanced side both in defence and attack.

In Walter Lubangakene, a former Jinja Municipal Council winger, Ezikiel Katende and the veteran Wakaza, UPDF has a potent frontline.

At the back Issa Mubiru and holding midfielder Sulaiman Majanjalo remain the pillars for the home side coming to the game.

Enter Express, there is a change of guard in the technical department.

Douglas Bamwenyana will mark his second match after his debut blushes away.

Alongside assistants Edward Kalungi and Samuel Kawalya, Bamwenyana is expected to name more or less a similar side that traveled to Mbarara.

That means, Godwin Buule will remain in between the goal posts ahead of the Kenyan import Jeff Atiel.

Promise Mopkene, Ronnie Kiseeka or Remmy Makumbi, Bernard Agele and Omar Hitimana are all available for selection among the defenders.

Express lineup against Kirinya-Jinja SS

Stand in captain Steven Luswata, Sharif Ochaya, Baker Kasule, AbdulKarim Kasule and Juma Ssebaduka form the mid field options.

Steven Bengo, Daniel Sserunkuma, Andrew Ssekayombya and Mike Birungi will provide the offensive solution as Express seeks for the opening goal of the season.

UPDF is 13th and Express lies just a slot below on 14th.
