Roch Peter Somoka and new signing Swaibu Kakwaya each scored 4 goals in Isabeti’s 11-6 massive win over the reigning champions MUBS at Lido Beach in Entebbe on Sunday.
MUBS also conceded two own goals through Derrick Kyega and Seif Matovu before Rica Byaruhanga’s icing on the cake for the dominant Isabeti coached by Issa Assimwe.
Matovu redeemed self with a personal hat-trick as MUBS rallied to limit the damage. Frank Bomboka (brace) and Jalilu Zimula got the other goals for MUBS who missed the services of head coach Charles Ayiekho Lukula.
In Ayiekho’s absence, Adam Kato fully took up the coaching role.
Isabeti also edged Stormers 4-2 in their second match of the day and team manager Issa Assimwe attributed the massive victories to good preparations.
“We have had a good start because we prepared well for the new season. I urge the players to stay focused and maintain the consistent run,” Assimwe told Kawowo Sports.
In some of the other matches, debutants Nkumba University defeated Makindye Ssabagabo Sand Lions 6-1 for their first victory.
Emmanuel Alex Wasswa scored a hat-trick in the one sided encounter. Sharifah Kimbowa added a double and John Brorad the other for Emmanuel Bonaparte Amagu’s coached side. Rajab Okello scored the consolation for Makindye Ssabagabo (MS) Sand Lions.
