The star who transferred from Police FC two years ago and struggled to score goals at Villa Park for SC Villa Jogoo joined Sofapaka in Kenya as a free agent.

He has since netted 10 league goals in nine games including one in Sofapaka’s 2-1 loss to Gor Mahia.

Kenyan Olunga helped Gor Mahia in his final season at home netting 19 goals to help the side win a record 15th league title without losing a single match. He joined Swedish side Djurgårdens IF in 2016 before switching to Chinese club Guizhou Zhicheng this year.

He was loaned to La Liga side Girona FC, for one year on 1 September 2017.

Kasumba wants to take the same route after shining in the GOtv shield as well where he has found the back of the net five times in two matches.

“I want to win that award for top scorer. I am confident and motivated because my teammates told me it comes with benefits,” he told Nation Sport.

“The Kenyan league suits me very well because players fight for the ball all the time, I prefer physical challenges. But I only want to play here for one season before transferring to a European club like Olunga,” he added.

Sofapaka return to the fray on Sunday to face AFC Leopards at Narok Stadium.
