- KCCA Leopards 57-45 APR
KCCA Leopards have won their first game at the Zone V Clubs Championship in Kampala.
Roger Sserunyigo’s charges were in charge and started strong against their Rwandan opponents.
Guard Joy Chemutai and center Martha Soigi were in demolition form with 17 and 22 points respectively as the home side cruised to a much needed victory.
New addition Muhayimina Namuwaya scored 6 points on the day.
The Leopards relied on their bigger bodies of Soigi and Namuwaya to dominate the Rwandans in the paint while Chemutai was lethal with her mid-range jump shots.
Cynthia Irankunda didn’t play a big part of the game as Halima Mujoma took the bigger share of the minutes at the point.
The ladies’ teams will compete in a round Robin format and the team with the most points after the tournament will be champions.
There are seven teams in the ladies’ category with UCU Lady Canons as the other Ugandan side.
KCCA will play Equity in their second fixture on Tuesday while APR square off with Don Bosco.
