5th Championship of Africa Nations

Three countries have submitted their bids to host the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).
These are Eastern Africa country Ethiopia, West Africans Equatorial Guinea and North African country Morocco.
The development was confirmed by the Confederation of Africa Football Association on their official website.
At the end of the deadline for submission of applications on Saturday 30 September 2017 at 23:59, three federation’s had submitted their bids to the General Secretariat of the Confederation Africaine de Football for the organisation of the 2018 Total African Nations Championship. Namely, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia and Morocco
The bidding process followed a CAF Executive Committee meeting convened on 23rd September 2017 in Accra, Ghana that withdrea Kenya’s hosting rights for the 2018 tournament.
The CAF Executive Committee decided to complete the process of selecting a new host country for the tournament scheduled for January 2018, within 15 days.
This was after Kenya, the initial host, failed to meet the requirements.
Ethiopia is highly tipped to host the biennial championship that brings together 16 national teams made up of players selected from their national championships.
Uganda is among the 15 countries confirmed for the 2019 CHAN tournament having defeated South Sudan and Rwanda in the qualifiers.
The final tournament, which is the 5th edition since inception will be held between 11th January to 2nd February 2018.

- Northern Zone: Libya, Morocco
- West Zone A & B: Mauritania, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso
- Central Zone: Equatorial Guinea, Congo, Cameroon, Guinea
- Central East Zone: Uganda, Sudan
- Southern Zone: Angola, Zambia, Namibia
