Experienced midfielder Tonny Mawejje is a tried and tested entity on the Uganda Cranes team.

Soon after arrival into the country from Albania where he plies his trade with FC Tirana along another Ugandan Yunus Sentamu, Mawejje wasted no time than to join the rest of the teammates at Sky Hotel camp in Naalya.

He was thus part of the training on Monday at Namboole stadium.

Returning to the national team fold for the first time since AFCON 2017, Mawejje is excited and more than ready to be facing Ghana once again.

As quoted by the FUFA website, Mawejje is keen to face Ghana once again;

I know how to beat Ghana because I have played more than 4 games against them.

I am now rejuvenated and ready to give in all what I have to help Uganda get good results

Mawejje was joined by the Zambia based crews of Isaac Isinde, Joseph Ochaya and Goefrey Serunkuma as well as Gor Mahia’s Godfrey ‘Jajja Walu’ Walusimbi, Egyptian based Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and striker Edrisa Lubega.

With Aucho Khalid suspended (accumulation of bookings) and Geofrey Baba Kizito out with a sprained ankle, Mawajje will man the midfielder with other options as Ivan Ntege and Dennis Iguma at his disposal.

Utility player Mawanda will most likely be pulled to the back line at a time defender Murushid Jjuuko is out suspended due to accumulated cautions.

More foreign based players in team captain Dennis Onyango, Romanian based William Luwagga Kizito and Belgium based midfielder Faruku Miya are expected by Tuesday.

The team has yet another training session on Tuesday morning prior to the international build up match against Madagascar on Wednesday at Lugogo.
