Okot fired home his long range shot in the 70th minute to settle the contest, and the Prisons side was able break their league duck.

Maroons were the only side in the league that hadn’t seen victory since the season started last month, and were also the only team that had not scored a goal in the league. Okot’s strike put an end to that.

Okot’s lone goal also meant Bright Stars who had not conceded this term were suffering their first defeat of the campaign.

The Stars drew three times and won one game in their opening four games, that victory coming at home at the Champions Stadium before the international break.

With Kirinya-Jinja SSS and Express winning their respective games, the loss dropped Bright Stars to seventh.

Maroons rise above to the 12th position with five points.

In their next league engagement, Maroons welcome SC Villa to Luzira Prisons grounds next week on Wednesday, while Bright Stars travel to Lugogo for a date with defending champions KCCA on Tuesday.
