Bright Stars assistant coach Paul Kiwanuka was irked by Mike Mutebi’s comments following a goalless draw at Lugogo against KCCA.
The KCCA manager described the visitors’ defensive tactics as ‘ancient’ and said it was the reason his side failed to pick maximum points.
“We are trying to change the mindset of people playing football the ‘Uganda way’ but people still go the ancient way of putting 10 men behind the ball,” said Mutebi before adding “And now they leave here bragging that we have picked a point from the champions.”
Kiwanuka in reply said that Mutebi deserved to have respect and instead blame his forwards for failure to put away the chances they created.
“I don’t think he deserves to attack anyone for the tactics,” an irked Kiwanuka told Kawowo Sports. “Instead, he should blame his players for failure to score,” he added.
“We are happy with a point and who knows how much it may count in the end.”
KCCA were dominant against the Matugga based side and hit the cross bar twice but failed to put the ball behind the back of the net which means they have failed to score in three of the six games played so far.
