Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) became the first side to book a semi-final berth in the University Football League.

The Nkozi based Institution won 1-0 against visiting Uganda Christian University (UCU) to overturn the similar defeat from the first leg.

Lauben ‘Benteke’ Lubega was on target in the 40th minute of the well-attended match.

The visitors were unlucky not to level matters when lead forward Amos Muwonge hit the woodwork twice in either halves.

This is the third time in succession that UMU eject UCU at the quarterfinal stage.

Meanwhile, the league continues on Wednesday with another quarterfinal clash between defending champions Kampala University (KU) and MUBS at Villa Park. MUBS lead 2-1 from the first leg.

Nkumba will face Kyambogo on Thursday in Nkumba.

The draws for the semifinals will be held on Friday.
