Police FC Coach Abdallah Mubiru says he was confident of getting at least a point after his side went down 2-0 inside 34 minutes against Maroons.

Pius Obuya and Solomon Walusimbi put the Prisons side in the lead with two beautiful goals before Yasin Mugume and Ben Ocen pulled the Cops level in a four goal thriller.

“I never lost hope,” said Mubiru. “In fact am disappointed that we lost two points but the boys did well,” he added.

“We were playing well and creating chances. Maroons were not better but scored so I knew we had a big chance to rally.”

Mubiru also went ahead to praise the character of his players after fighting back when many thought it was impossible.

“The boys were mentally strong and their character and attitude even after conceding was fantastic. I am really happy with them.”

Referee Brian Nsubuga was the centre of attention for he really failed to handle the game disallowing what appeared like a genuine Police goal and also waved play on when Maxwell Okello handled in the area.

Mubiru however remained reserved when asked to make a comment on the referees’ performance.

I don’t want to talk about referees but I thought we were denied a genuine goal and then many decisions went against us.

Police maintained their one point lead at the top after Onduparaka were held at home by resilient Mbarara City in Arua.
