Ethiopia Football Association Elective General Assembly:

There are barely two weeks to the long awaited elective assembly for the Ethiopia Football Association that will happen on 25th December 2017 in Semera town, about 500KM, North East of the capital city Addis Ababa.
Election of president for the football body is one of the items on the agenda that day where the incumbent Juneidi Tilmos Basha faces four other personalities.
The others are; Teka Assefaw, Dr. Ashebir Woldegiorgis, Easyas Jira and Dagim Melashen.
These were the successful candidates passed by the Ethiopia Football Association electoral board.
The same board also approved 16 candidates for the 10 available Executive Committee slots available.
Sofia Alamrew, the only woman candidate in the race is joined by former Ethiopia national team head coach Sewnet Bishaw and 14 other candidates.
The election that was initially to take place on 4th November, but was postponed as per FIFA recommendation, will now take place on 25th December in Semera, 500 kilometers north east of Addis Ababa.
One hundred and forty four (140) members will cast their votes to elect the new office for a term of four years.
At the moment, all the candidates are busy lobbying from the delegates.
Juneidi is favourite to retain the seat after years of diligent service at the helm of administration of football in football.
He has witnessed the country prosper in the growth of women football, youth structures, sports infrastructural development and the senior national team.
Recently, Juneidi witnessed the signing of a confidentiality agreement signed between Ethiopian National Anti-doping Agency, Ethiopian Federal Police Commission, Ethiopian Food, Medicines and Health Care Administration and Control Authority and National Sports Associations to combat doping.
On the region, he has been aggressive for transformation within the CECAFA body.
He was one of the F.A presidents who convened in Kampala on 19th April 2017 agitating for drastic reforms in CECAFA, henceforth formulating the 9 point resolution for the regional body’s development.
His critics however point to the continued medicore performance of the national football team in the AFCON and FIFA World Cup qualifiers as well as on the region basis (CECAFA).
