Three Uganda Table Tennis players Rita Nakumitsa, Halima Nambozo and Regina Nakibuule left for Mauritius on Tuesday ahead of the 2017 Africa Zone IV Table Tennis Championships.

The trio are all from Mbale Table Table Tennis Club. They departed on Tuesday night and arrived safely on Wednesday morning.

Nakumitsa, the current number one female table tennis player leads the three man team.

She traveled alongside Nambozo, who is ranked second. Nakibuule was a late minute replacement for seed three Florence Seera.

The trio successfully  passed the trials held at Kololo Secondary School over the  weekend.

The team was led by head coach Jude Mutetete for the three day’s championship.

Mutetete believes that the players who made the grade are up to the task at hand and will carry aloft the national flag at the championship.

We selected credible players ready to compete and represent the country well

A total of 10 countries will take part in the championship.

Uganda’s seed one female Table Tennis player Halima Nambozo will lead the surge for trophies

Hosts and defending champions Mauritius will be joined by Uganda,  Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania,  Kenya,  South Sudan, Djibouti ,Seychelles and Comoros.
