Rwanda Amavubi Stars held Nigeria Super Eagles to a goal-less stalemate during the second Group C match of the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) at Tangier stadium on Monday night.

Despite the dominance through out the game, Nigeria failed to translate their possession advantage into tangible results.

The Super Eagles were rusty in front of goal, hitting the upright on three different occasions.

Veteran Ali Rabiu, youngster Sunday Faleye and Osas Okoro all looked on in distress failing to connect home chance after chance.

Faleye’ header bounced off the crossbar in the opening minutes of the game with Rwandese goalie Eric Ndayishimiye completely beaten.

Ali volleyed wide of goal in the 38th minute when Ndayishimiye had spilled a cross onto his path before hitting the post in the 49th minute as Nigeria controlled the game.

As the second half kicked off, Rwanda introduced exciting left winger of AS Kigali Savio Nshuti.

The upright once again came to Rwanda’s rescue 12 minutes from full time when second half substitute Ibrahim Mustapha headed onto the post an inviting corner from Ali.

Rwanda’s Djihad Bizimana was voted man of the match.

Rwanda is now joint second with a point, same as Nigeria as Libya who brushed aside Equatorial Guinea 3-0 in the opener leads Group C. Saleh Taher (brace) and second half substitute Zakaria Alharash were on target for Libya.

Equatorial Guinea is bottom placed with no point earned and a deficit of minus three goals.
