Former Uganda Cranes international Simeon Masaba is the new assistant coach at Arua based Uganda Premier League club Onduparaka F.C.

Baptized as “Biri Etaambula”, loosely translated as the roving right back during his hey playing days, Masaba takes over a slot that has been vacant for one and a half seasons.

Previously at URA Football Club as a players’ trainer, Masaba will deputize Livingstone Mbabazi who is the head coach at the Caterpillars.

The CAF B licenced coach was officially unveiled before the players on Tuesday at the GreenLight stadium

Club chairman, Benjamin Nyakuni praised the character of Masaba who was notified of the opportunity only two days before he traveled to Arua.

Nyakuni as quoted by the official club website noted;

We really needed an assistant Coach in this club just like many of the big teams across the globe and we believe in Simeon (Masaba).
He has proved to us that he really wants to work with us as he was only informed two days ago but managed to travel immediately
Masaba was a household name with the national team, Police, Sports Club Villa and recently URA where he was retained as a trainer.
He is a known workaholic, hands on tactician, patient, jovial on and off the field of play.
Veteran coach Leo Adraa remains as the club Technical Director and Moses ‘Ugoboss’ Oloya as the goalkeeping coach.
Meanwhile, Onduparaka also confirmed the signing of two players  striker Jamal Malish and midfielder Moses Ndawula.
Jamal is tipped to be the perfect replacement for gangly striker Alfred Leku, who has since switched to Express on loan from Vipers.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
