Black Pirates were ruthless as they put Jinja Hippos to the sword on Saturday afternoon at Legends.

Isaac Rujumba, Baron Kasozi, Isaac Massa, Timothy Kisiga, Daniel Canowira, Conrad Wanyama, Louis Sebuuma, William Mucunguzi and Ivan Magomu all crossed the try line as Pirates defeated Hippos 102-08.

The Sea Robbers quickly got off the blocks and took advantage of Hippos’ weak clearance to score the opening try through Isaac Rujumba that Ivan Magomu easily converted.

Hippos held their own for a few minutes but Baron Kasozi’s first try of the game opened the flood gates as Daniel Canowira’s try was quickly followed by another from William Mucunguzi that secured the bonus point.

Full back Timothy Kisiga opened his account as Pirates were in control 35-00 at the end of the first half.

Kasozi got his second soon after the break and it could only get worse for the league freshmen from Jinja as Conrad Wanyama, Rujumba and Kisiga crossed the white chalk in quick succession and the lead stretched to 66-00.

Pirates were penalized for crossing and Maxwell Ebong went for sticks, putting on the board Hippos’ first points.

Louis Sebuuma and Isaac Massa joined the try party with Wanyama’s second of the day in between before Magomu and William Nkore touched down.

Joel Aliga made Hippos only try of the day which was unsuccessfully converted (by Ebong) before Kisiga wrapped up the game with his fourth try.

Magomu converted 11 of the 16 tries scored by the Sea Robbers.

With Pirates meeting Kobs – who ripped Impis apart on Friday – next weekend, the top of the table clash promises to be mouthwatering.
