The Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) has extended invitations to Uganda, Kenya, Hong Kong and France among other nations for the Victoria Falls sevens.
It will the second edition of the tournament from March 24-25 in the resort town of Victoria Falls.
Participants including hosts – Zimbabwe – are expected to use the showpiece as preparation for the World Cup Rugby sevens for July in San Francisco.
On a bright note, the competition will be held less than two weeks before the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series core-team qualifying tournament at the Hong Kong Sevens from April 6–8.
Away from the heavyweights, Swaziland, Morocco and Senegal are also expected to feature.
If Uganda takes to Zimbabwe they will grace the showpiece as defending champions of the Africa Rugby championship that was delivered thanks Adrian Kasito’s heroics in Kampala.
Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda and South Africa will be the only four African countries at the Rugby World Cup sevens.
