Charles ‘Neymar’ Lwanga scored three goals as Sports Club Villa Jogoo Junior Team humbled their arch rivals Express in the FUFA Juniors League match played at Villa Park, Nsambya in Kampala.

Lwanga, an S3 student at Blessed Sacrament Kimanya in Masaka was in scintillating form with three personal goals to his name.

Odrick Ainebyona, towering Shafik Nyanzi and Faston Ngabonziza were the other players for Phillip Ssozi’s coached side.

Express’ consolation strike was scored by Aristo Rutunga.

An excited Ssozi saluted the collective effort of his team as he plans for the upcoming games ahead.

The display was fantastic.

This victory was a result of teamwork and the players’ ability to follow instructions to the dot. I am happy by the day’s performance.

There are still a couple of more matches to play and we shall have to plan ahead.

The only set back is that now most students have returned to schools and they will not have regular training as a team.

Other Matches:

Meanwhile, Masavu Junior Team continued with their impressive showing with a 4-0 home victory against visiting Mbarara City at the Ssendi’s play ground in Kabowa, Kampala.

Abdul Kalanzi scored a brace for Masavu Junior team. Joseph Mubiru and Rogers Mugisha got the other goals on the day.

Masavu further consolidates their grip at the summit of the Hat-Trick group with 29 points off 12 matches.

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Junior Team played to a non-scoring draw with UPDF at St Julian Secondary School play ground in the only Treble group match played.

The FUFA Juniors league is played by players under 18 years. It is divided into two groups (Treble and Hat-Trick).

“To encourage the youngsters yearn for the back of the net during matches. there is a rule that any victory with a margin of two goals, a team is awarded four points” FUFA Youth Development officer, Bashir Mutyaba discloses to Kawowo Sports.

Soana Soccer Academy is the reigning champion of this league.

Vipers Junior Team won the inaugural championship in 2016.

It is mandatory that every top flight club registers an U-18 team as a regulation for the club licencing process.
