Anthony Mayanja and Musa Esenu scored a goal in each half as Kirinya Jinja SS shot down Police FC in a league game played at Bugembe.

In a dull game played on a sunny afternoon, both teams struggled to create scoring opportunities in the first half hour although the hosts were dominant in possession.

It wasn’t until the 38th minute when the deadlock was broken after a goal melee.

Isaac Ntege blocked a move by Police just inside the Cops half, passed to Esenu whose low cross inside the six yard area beat a couple legs including Richard Amaku before Mayanja tapped home from close range with an empty net at his mercy.

The goal woke up the visitors who had a chance to level but Rahmat Ssenfuka’s shot was blocked for a corner kick.

Abdallah Mubiru made two changes ten minutes after the break with a double swoop that saw Ben Ocen and Norman Ojik taken off for Basani Saafi and Mufti Luzinda respectively.

But it was Kirinya that doubled the lead after laxity in defence saw Musa Esenu shoot past hapless Douglas Kisembo in Police goal.

Saafi had two attempts to score for the visitors but one went over the bar while the other was well saved by Emmanuel Lubangkene.

The win moved Kirinya Jinja SS to 6th on the log with 24 points while Police stay 5th with one point more.
