With just two days left to the 2018 Kenya National Rally Championship season opener, Carl Tundo has his targets set on claiming another title.
The Top Fry Nakuru Rally revs off this Saturday in Nakuru and ‘Flash’ as he is commonly known heads into the season opener highly optimistic.
“The team is all set for the season. It’s unfortunate one of our team member Jean Luis who was a great asset to the team left. We however replaced him with Chantal Young who will be managing the team.
“Besides all that, we are ready to start the championship fight this weekend with a good position,” he said.
Despite holding three KNRC titles (2007, 2009 and 2012), Tundo is craving for a fourth.
“My target is always to win the championship. And I never limit my contention to less. And this time round I need two titles; KNRC and Rally Raid titles.
“I came second in both championships last year. So we shall be eyeing the title in every event,” he asserted.
Tundo and co-driver Tim Jessop finished second overall in the championship last year; losing out on the title by just five points.
Although his pace is undoubted, Tundo knows too well the tight battle that awaits.
“In any title chase, competition always seem to get bigger and better. I think any of the premier division driver stands a chance to the title. So it will be a tight contest,” he said.
In his Mitsubishi Evo X, Tundo will start crew number seven in Nakuru.
