4th Standard Chartered Bank Cup

The fourth edition of the Standard Chartered Bank cup in Uganda was officially launched on Wednesday, 28th February 2018 at Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

In attendance at the launch were the bank’s officials led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Albert Saltson, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) CEO Edgar Watson, representatives from some of the previous tournament winners – Cipla Quality Chemicals, Coca Cola and Roofings as well the media.
On the day, the registration procedure for the tournament also dubbed as the ‘The road to Anifeld’ was officially opened for the companies willing to participate.
For starters, the StanChart Cup is a five aside one day tournament for clients of the bank.
Like for the 2016 edition winners (Cipla Quality Chemicals), the winner this time round will also receive the much coveted all-expenses paid for trip to the United Kingdom at the home of Liverpool Football Club, Anifeld.
The winners will get a chance as well, to watch Liverpool Football Club in action (come August 2018).
The three day’s itinerary will begin with a tour of the Reds’ iconic Anfield Stadium, followed by a training session at the LFC Academy with elite coaches and legends of the club.

Saltson noted;
Liverpool is of the world’s best known football clubs and Standard chartered is proud to be associated with it
The cup provides a plat form for the bank to actively engage football fans.
It is hinged on the bank’s Liverpool sponsorship and is a great opportunity for standard chartered to reinforce its partnership with Liverpool and as well, generate direct benefits to the businesses.
The FUFA CEO, Watson, representing the Federation boss, Moses Magogo expressed gratitude upon such a tournament.
Such tournaments are of good essence since they help to network, provide opportunities for exercising and keep many people in shape. As FUFA, we are 100 percent behind this cause.

There will be 40 teams will registration set at Shs 1.5M per team.
These will include corporate bodies, customers (clients), media and staff.
The main tournament draws shall be held on 18th April 2018 whilst the main event will take place on 21st April 2018.
The successful team will qualify directly for the UK trip (with no regional qualifiers unlike the previous year).
Each team consistutes of 7 members (5 players and two subsistutes).
Upon payment, every member on the team is entitled to a goodie bag with an assortment of Liverpool Football Club merchandise.
The proceeds from this entire campaign will be donated towards the ‘Seeing is Believing project’ which is the bank’s global initiative to help tackle avoidable blindness.
