Returning Julius Poloto scored the winning goal at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo as KCCA edged Soana 1-0 to close the gap at the top to one.
KCCA came into the game on the back of a frustrating goalless draw at Masavu and needed to win the game to get back into the title mix.
Mike Mutebi named both Poloto and Muzamiru Mutyaba in the starting eleven after their return from injury but was forced to withdraw Mutyaba for young Lawrence Bukenya as Soana’s Steven Bengo threatened.
Following a goalless first half, it took the champions twenty second half minutes to get the deserved strike from Poloto.
It was another clean sheet for the on form Charles Lukwago as KCCA moved to 36 points, same as second placed Vipers but the Kasasiro have more goals.
They are just one point adrift of log leaders SC Villa who drew 1-1 with Bright Stars at Champions Stadium, Mwererwe.
