Denis Onyango was in fine form as Mamelodi Sundowns won 2-0 against Bidvest Wits to go six points clear in the PSL race.
The win comes a couple of days after close challengers Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s Orlando Pirates drew.
Themba Zwane and Sibusizo Vilakazi scored the goals on a day the Brazilians created many chances but also had to thank Africa’s number one, Onyango for good saves.
Speaking after the game, Pitso Mosimane admitted no one deserved to win than his side.
“I think we started very well to be honest,” he told SuperSport TV. “We created chances, scored our first two goals, sometimes we elaborated too much, passing and passing instead of shooting but we scored the two goals and that’s it,” added the former Bafana Bafana tactician.
Mosimane highlighted the importance of the victory that ensures they will play in the CAF Champions League next year regardless of whether they win the title.
This game was very important, I didn’t want to highlight it too much but in the dressing room, they knew about it. It gives us for the fourth year in a row a [CAF] Champions League spot. It also gives us a six points gap between us and Orlando Pirates.
With four games to end the season, Sundowns need only seven points to clinch the championship.
