Lango Province captain Dickens Okwi is elated having inspired his team to a resounding 3-1 victory in the group D FUFA Drum duel, on the road to Buganda at the Bishops S.S play ground in Mukono on match day four.

In a quick reflex, Okwir sings special praise for the rest of his teammates for the committed and spirited display on the day.

I am happy that i have inspired my Lango team to victory. We worked hard for this win. It is so important but the credit goes to other teammates. Football is a team sport right from the managers, coaches, players, fans and the media, we worked so hard for the maximum points on the day.

For starters, Okwir scored twice and second half Petit Wanok got the other as Lango Province came from a goal down to win the game.

Amuka Bright Stars forward Okwi (also the FUFA Big league top scorer with 11 goals) scored a brace before second half substitute  Wanok got the winning goal on wet playing field under drizzles.

Buganda had earlier in the first half taken the lead through Allan Kayiwa’s powerfully executed header off captain Brian Majwega’s telling cross from the left.

Okwi was named man of the match, a feat that comes with a plaque and cash reward of Shs. 100,000.

On the man of the match accolade, Okwi praises the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for the initiative that boosts internal competition amongst the players while in action.

The man of the match accolade helps us (the players) to fight in a healthy way during the games. I am happy for FUFA and the entire organization team.

With Acholi having attained 10 points with the 1-0 victory away at Kigezi at Kabale Municipal Stadium, they are through to the quarter finals with two matches to spare.

The rest of the three teams in group D (Lango, Kigezi and Buganda) all have four points with two matches left.
