After two years away, Southern Motorsport Club (SMC) makes a comeback on the National Rally Championship series all new.

SMC is hosting the third round of NRC scheduled for 27-29 April in Masaka.

The club will introduce a new rally circuit in the sport. The double track circuit at the Kako Sports Centre will feature for the first time. It covers a total distance of 5.8 kilometres.

“After losing the Misaali and pine ridge circuits. The rally enthusiasts in Masaka could not settled without securing a place for a circuit.

“The circuit was well graded to fit the standards. It can accommodate all fans and crews at once,” said the SMC event manager Jude Lubega.

Lugeba assures fans of an exciting runs in the circuit.

“The fact that it’s a double circuit, I am so certain fans will enjoy the battles from different crews. It has corners, stretches name it all,” he added.

After the circuit on Saturday, crews will embark on five stages on the final day.

“This event will produce the fastest speeds this year. Jinja Rally events have always posted the fastest speeds due to the nature of their stages. But even our stages are made in that way to call for high speeds.

“The event will definitely be a fast race and crews are expected to test their high speeds on Sunday,” said Lubega.

Over 30 crews are expected to participate in search for the championship points.

Jas Mangat currently leads the championship with 200 points followed by Unissan Bakunda and Christakis Fitidis in third.
