For a reason or another, Bright Stars head coach Fred Kajoba will be in the spot light when they host army side, Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) in a domestic league duel on Tuesday, 1st May 2018.

The match will happen at the Champions Stadium in Mwererwe as one of the five match day 27 games lined up.

For starters, Kajoba, who is also the goalkeeping coach for Uganda Cranes previously handled UPDF before he sought greener pastures at Bright Stars.

Fresh from a 2-1 away win to Kirinya-Jinja S.S in Jinja last Friday, Bright Stars has accumulated 33 points and they are quite safe from relegation.

Therefore, a point or more earned in the game with UPDF will be good enough for their season to be set alight as they plot for the forth coming epoch.

Currently on 28 points, UPDF, coached by former Uganda Cranes stylish midfielder Steven Bogere is the more desperate side of the two given the chasing pack from bottom.

Vital players:

League top scorer and Bright Stars captain Nelson Senkatuka (13 goals) will be primarily responsible for the team goal scoring chores as usual.

A swift helping hand from winger John Kokas Opejo, hardworking midfielder Brian Enzama, crafty ‘tiny’ play makers Mahad Kiseeka and Henry Kiwanuka as well as the experience of utility player Sula Ssebunza Ssekajja.

Ssebunza, for starters scored the winning goal as Bright Stars edged Kirinya-Jinja S.S at Bugembe a few days ago.

At the back, Bright Stars has been steady with the assured back cover of former URA left back Samuel Ssekitto ahead of another Ssekitto entity in Hakim, also christened as “Kilu”.

Right back Andrew Kaggwa, Akram Kakembo, Enock Walusimbi, Farouk  Katongole, towering Joshua Kawaddwa, Moses Okot, Jimmy “Kachanga” Kakooza, Farouk Banga are all available for selection.

In goal, it will take a dice throw between fast improving Benson Wegima and veteran Hamza Muwonge to determine who starts on the day.

Come to the UPDF side, left footed winger Ezekiel Katende has risen to the occasion where it mattered most for the army side this season.

He will be expected to be on his “A” game against Bright Stars on a tricky ground that many clubs have struggled to configure positive results.

Hard tackling Sulaiman Majanjaalo is a no nonsense hard tackler in the exact mold of Kachanga Kakooza with intelligent footballing brains in Joseph Jjanjali ahead of him.

Veteran forward Robert Nakyenalire, a tried and tested player of sorts will provide the supportive role to league debutant Jjanjali.

Explicit goalkeeper Bashir Ssekajja, a former trainee at KCCA has equal sound cover in Denis Ssekitoleko, Johnson Lumansi, Emmanuel Egau and Joseph Othieno.

Teenager Abdunoor Lukwata, Faisal Kiberu, Sydney Ssenyonga and the hard working Mustafa Dongo are other offensive options for Bogere at UPDF.

Maximum points for UPDF will be a catalyst and a bridge to their eventual road to surviving relegation.
