CAF Champions League group stage debutants Township Rollers and KCCA begin the 2018 campaign with a clash against each other on Friday.

Much has been said about this group A fixture but none other than Ugandan international midfielder Ivan Ntege who plies his trade with the Botswana side.

Ntege left KCCA at the end of last season and played a starring role as Township Rollers reached the group stages featuring in all games in the qualification.

My prayers have been answered,” said Ntege after the draw. “I was following the draws in my house and i prayed KCCA to be drawn in the same group with us (Township Rollers) and it came through,” he said then.

It will be a time to face each other and like a true professional, i will give my best not only in the KCCA game but also in the other matches in the group.

Coaches Talk Respect

KCCA manager Mike Mutebi says his team wants to pick decent result away from home but remains humble and admits Township Rollers deserves respect.

“We have come here to play some good football and get a good result. We can’t be disrespectful to Township Rollers, they are at home,” he said before he added.

Of course every coach comes wanting to win but we must be humble also to know we are playing a very good side at their home.

His opposite number Nikola Kavazovic says KCCA’s experience from last season’s CAF Confederation Cup must not be under looked.

“KCCA proved themselves on several occasions in CAF competitions,” he lamented. “Last season, they had Mamelodi. I am not fan of KCCA or Sundowns but felt sorry due to the manner Sundowns edged them,” added Kavazovic.

And also, in group stages of CAF CC, one goal they conceded in victory 3-1 over FUS Rabat separated them from quarter finals. And we are speaking about same team so that’s experience.
